How to use the YOU and YOU imperative
In Spanish we have 3 verbal modes : indicative, imperative and subjunctive . The imperative is the only way that has form and use in the present . It also presents two categories: the affirmative imperative and the negative imperative . If we compare it with other languages, the imperative is a way widely used in Spanish.
In this post we will discuss the affirmative imperative of you and you . First we will see the form you with the following examples:
If you look, the imperative is used to give orders, advice, directions, instructions … The imperative of you is formed as follows:
As you can see, the final -s of the present indicative simply disappears . Easy, right? You just have to learn the following irregularities:
Now let’s see the form you , so look again at the examples of the principle, now in the form of a plural:
As you can see, the plural needs another form. The imperative of you is created as follows:
You simply have to change the –r from the infinitive to a –d.
Finally, you must also learn that the imperative of you and you in the affirmative form, the pronouns are placed behind the verb forming a single word.
